Polar Explorers Holiday Club 2017
This year's holiday club 'Polar Explorers' saw 56 primary school aged children from around Wokingham (and even a couple all the way from Nigeria) learning about how you can never be too bad, too young (or old), too ordinary, make too many mistakes or be too near or far to be part of God's big expedition.
The days started with some singing, dancing and jokes led by Eleanor 'Sir Random Finds' and Lucy who kicked the activities off with Hannah and James leading us in singing and dancing as we learnt three special songs.
Stories from the book of Acts and Timothy were brought to life every day by our very own 'Sandra Sledge' although you may know her as Sandra Taylor. Crafts including binoculars, mosaics and Pentecost hats were made by a fantastic team in the hall; Jason and some young helpers ran a series of games and a fab group of volunteers made all sorts of footprint themed goodies to eat in the kitchen from pizzas to pancakes and cookies.
All of the volunteers were exhausted by the end of the week but as always this year's holiday club was an amazing success as we witnessed some of youngest community members enjoying time with God learning about what it really means to be a follower of Jesus.
Holiday Club is probably the largest outreach project we undertake each year and it is made possible through the hard work and support of the volunteers in our congregation. We are truly blessed to be able to offer such a fantastic week to local families and I want to thank each and every person who has supported in any way.
Next year's Club will run from Monday 30th July, after we've all had a well-earned rest!
